Georgia Coalition to End Homelessness

Policy Academy

What is the purpose of a Policy Academy?

To develop a realistic, State/Territory-wide policy initiative (Action Plan) with the intent of:

  • Increasing access to mainstream services for individuals and families experiencing homelessness
  • Enhancing the linkages between services and housing
  • Developing prevention strategies

The challenges teams will face are:
  • Building team consensus around the Action Plan
  • Integrating planning activities
  • Identifying feasible strategies
  • Presenting a clear message to influential policymakers
  • Generating public and political will to support Action Plan
  • Implementing the Action Plan through executive, legislative, administrative, and private sector (non-government) processes

We have started the process of connecting the mainstream services for individuals and families experiencing homeless by this year's academy. We encourage others who would like to become involved in the work being done in your area to contact us at 770-575-5785.
